Keeping the Disc in the Air:
Growing Ultimate in Sierra Leone

Although ultimate in Sierra Leone was played in isolated community for nearly two decades, we have experienced rapid growth only since 2023. With new players, new projects and ideas, we decided to organize ourselves to achieve more. Starting Sierra Leone Flying Disc Association, we are here to support our communities and spread our love for frisbee.
Never Dropping the Effort:
Building Community Through Ultimate

Ultimate was first brought to Sierra Leone by volunteers from NGO Word Made Flesh, helping youth from disadvantaged communities. Two decades later, ultimate is still being played, and we continue in our own effort to grow flying disc sports, spread values of the Spirit of the Game, and to help people in disadvantaged communities ourselves.
Championing Equal Opportunities and Growth in Flying Disc Sports

The Sierra Leone Flying Disc Association (SLFDA) is an independent, voluntary, and apolitical association of natural persons and legal entities interested in flying disc sports, including Ultimate, Disc golf, Freestyle, and other disciplines.

The purpose of SLDFA is to foster flying disc sports in Sierra Leone, particularly through organizing competitions, development, promotion, coach education, and ensuring national representation. SLFDA follows guiding principles and rules of WFDF (World Flying Disc Federation), of which we became a National Member Federation in September 2024.

Main focus of SLFDA is on growing the flying disc sports communities in Sierra Leone based on active democratic participation, and equal opportunities without age, gender, political, or religious discrimination.
SLFDA consists of three governing bodies

General Meeting
General Meeting is a platform for all active SLFDA members to shape the association, to present ideas, approve proposals and vote in the key matters of the association, like electing the Executive Board and Control Committee.

Executive Board
Executive Board is a board of elected members involving 5 positions tasked to manage the association and work towards achieving long-term goals and SLFDA purposes. Learn more about our Executive Board below on the page.

Control Committee
It is a 3-member elected committee tasked with ensuring transparency in the actions of the Executive Board, with rights to oversee financial planning and assets, and also with the rights to review certain decisions of the EB.

Become Our Member
When you become SLFDA member, you will be part of growing community of persons interested in flying disc sports in Sierra Leone. You will be able to participate in SLFDA events: Regular training sessions and training camps, all-levels competitions, national-level team competitions, social events and others. You will be informed about the activities and management of SLFDA, and you will be able to submit proposals regarding our activities, as well as vote and be voted for various positions in the association.

Become Our Partner
Our ambition and goals are great. In both promoting flying disc sports and improving communities around us. But living in one of the poorest countries on Earth, we can do so much more thanks to your help. We are in need of media partners, sponsors, pro-bono professional services (graphic design, website development, consultancy), professional ultimate frisbee coaching, equipment donations (especially ultimate frisbee discs) and financial support. Please get in touch if you would like to support us - no help is too little. THANK YOU!
